Gather the equipment before moving it
Prepare a generator, gasoline, and connection knowledge. The Build 42 wiki documents three ways to connect: Electrical level 3, the Electrician occupation, or reading How to Use Generators. This is a versioned requirement, so the context menu remains the final check for your character.
Carry it only along an inspected route. A generator is heavy and restricts your ability to fight while moving it. Pick the outdoor position before starting the haul.
First startup sequence
Do the first test while you have daylight and enough supplies to fix a problem. Keep the machine accessible without requiring a loaded character to cross your busiest entrance.
- Place the generator on the ground outdoors, near the appliances you want to supply. Keep it out of occupied buildings and garages.
- Use its context menu to connect it. If the action is unavailable, resolve the knowledge requirement first.
- Keep it switched off while adding fuel.
- Start it, then open Generator Info to inspect fuel, condition, and connected demand.
- Check that the intended appliances receive power; turn off equipment you do not need.
Make maintenance part of returning home
Inspect fuel and condition on each supply cycle. Switch off before refueling or repairing; Scrap Electronics is the documented repair material. Do not wait for a badly degraded machine to fail.
Record the last check and assign responsibility in co-op. Keep repair material where the person maintaining the generator can find it, and keep some fuel separate from the stock intended for the car. If access becomes unsafe, solve that before committing another heavy can to the trip.
Keep the fuel station in the plan
A station without grid power may need generator power for its pumps. The Generator Working In Exterior sandbox setting governs that use. Test the station setup before letting the base reserve run low.
Mark an alternative station and a place to turn the vehicle around. A route that works empty may be harder with a full load and tired characters. The map link below is a scouting target, not a promise that pumps contain fuel or that the forecourt is clear.
